A familiar species can be an unfamiliar fight

Natural spawns can appear as Common, Magic, Rare, or Mythic versions. Stronger tiers have more resilience and offensive pressure, and their modifiers can combine into dangerous encounters. Scripted guardians and summons follow their own rules.

TierWhat to expect
CommonThe ordinary encounter to learn first.
MagicA stronger creature with an added threat.
RareA demanding fight with multiple modifiers.
MythicAn exceptional encounter that deserves preparation and often help.

Read the encounter

  • Stalwart adds resilience.
  • Frenzied increases offensive pressure and attack rate.
  • Fleetfoot changes movement pressure; leave room to retreat.
  • Spellbound makes magical attacks more dangerous.
  • Higher tiers can combine threats. Use Lantern Watch if you want to request help with a natural rare encounter.

The kill is not the all-clear

Some Rare and Mythic enemies leave hazards behind. Cinder warns of a delayed fiery burst; Miasma leaves a pulsing green danger zone. A Red Mage's Disenchant can defuse either hazard before the kill.

Move clear and wait before collecting loot. Defeating the monster does not protect you from its final hazard, and a wounded character can still die. Possession and permanent-death rules remain in effect.

Quality, not guaranteed treasure

Stronger tiers improve the quality of equipment that drops, but do not guarantee equipment or a Unique item. An exciting reward is a reason to prepare, not a reason to ignore the danger.
