A cart is more than a sprite
Merchants with an available cart can move goods into the cart inventory. Press W to open it. The cart follows the character visually, while the cart window shows its actual contents.
The cart inventory is separate from equipped items and the regular inventory. A cart's contents remain attached to that character for the permanent-death rules.
Put an item up for sale
- Have the required cart and Vending skill available, then place the goods you want to sell into the cart.
- Use Vending to open shop preparation.
- Move items from Items Available to Sell into the shop's actual sale list, and set the requested quantity and price.
- Give the shop a clear title, review its listings, and select Open Shop.
- Use another character to inspect the shop when testing. Check the displayed title and actual purchase listing.
Why an item may not use a shop slot
Items Available to Sell is a source inventory, not the final sale list. An item merely appearing in that source grid has not necessarily been added to your shop.
The slot counter describes the remaining capacity of the shop's listings. If the main shop list is empty, prepare a listing before expecting the shop to open.
Keep reserves outside the expedition
Account-level storage remains account-level storage after a character falls permanently. Gear, carried inventory, and cart goods do not automatically transfer to a replacement character.
Use ordinary storage facilities to keep reserves you are not taking into danger. This is preparation, not a way to recover items after they have already fallen with a character.
